Main

Satellite: GOES-East
Sensor: ABI
Product: True color by day + Band 13 (10.3 µm) at night
Region: Full disk
Interval: Last 48 hrs
Description: Composition of different products; during the day true color is observed (using a synthetic green component) that allows viewing images as if seen with human eyes from space. At night Band 13 (10.3 µm) is observed, which highlights the cloud top temperature of high clouds in different colors, with city lights from a static VIIRS-derived database in the background.

Region: CONUS

Satellite: GOES-East
Sensor: ABI
Product: True color by day + Band 13 (10.3 µm) at night
Region: Mexico
Interval: Last 48 hrs

Satellite: GOES-East
Sensor: ABI/GLM
Product: Minimum Flash Area + BAND 13
Region: CONUS
Interval: Last 48 hrs
Description: Composition of two products: the first is the minimum flash area which detects the minimum size of any flash that spatially coincides with a 2x2 km grid; the second is Band 13 (10.3 µm) which highlights high cloud tops in white.
Satellite: GOES-East
Sensor: ABI
Product: Hotspots
Region: Mexico-Caribbean
Interval: Last 48 hrs
Satellite: GOES-East
Sensor: SUVI
Product: SUVI
Description: The Solar Ultraviolet Imager is a telescope that monitors the sun in the extreme ultraviolet wavelength range. By observing the sun, SUVI can compile full-disk solar images throughout the day. It replaces the GOES Solar X-ray Imager (SXI) instrument and represents a change in both spectral coverage and spatial resolution over SXI.

Hotspots

Objective:

Hotspot detection algorithm to monitor fires and large-scale agricultural burns in near real-time, based on images from the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) of the GOES-East geostationary satellite (GOES16/ABI).

Volcanic ash monitoring

Objective:

Detect volcanic ash from images of the ABI sensor on board the GOES-East satellite for Popocatépetl, which allows us to perform monitoring every 5 minutes and provide information on the extent of ash plumes, useful for civil protection and aviation risk.

Participant(s):

Sargassum monitoring

Objective:

Sargassum monitoring in the Mexican Caribbean region from Sentinel-2 images, offering resources such as vector files of its position at sea and RGB composites for better analysis.
